As the top seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and by conference operating code, No. 9/9 Oswego was declared the 2017 SUNYAC Champion, although the conference cancelled its 2017 Baseball Championship originally scheduled May 5-7 at SUNY Oswego due to weather. As the conference champion, the team received an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championship. The team bowed out of its first-ever appearance in the College World Series with a 9-4 loss to Concordia University Chicago (34-12) in an elimination game on May 27 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisc.
Oswego Baseball Earns Recognition From Two Entities
Five members of the 2017 SUNYAC Championship Oswego State baseball team have been named to the 2017 D3Baseball.com All-New York Region team.
Eric Hamilton ’17 of Liverpool, N.Y., garnered Player of the Year honors, while earning a spot on the First Team. Joining Hamilton in the major awards category is head coach Scott Landers, who was named Coach of the Year.
Tim Cronin ’17 of Walden, N.Y., and Mike Dellicarri ’19 of Congers, N.Y., (First Team) as well as Mitchell Cavanagh ’18 of Oneida, N.Y., (Second Team) were also named to an All-New York team. All four of the players were also named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-New York teams.
