A Lasting Tribute Via Sheldon Legacy Society
Linda Synakowski Iannone ’73 established a current-use scholarship to support the Path Forward campaign after rekindling her connection to SUNY Oswego by sharing stories with colleagues, Curtis Pearsall ’75 and Jerry Kraus ’78, from the Stanley Theatre in Utica, N.Y.
After meeting the first two recipients of the Linda J. Iannone ’73 Scholarship supporting theatre students at Oswego, she decided to endow the scholarship so it can be awarded in perpetuity.
As a widow without children, Linda said she also began to think about her estate plans and what she wanted her legacy to be. She decided to become a member of the Sheldon Legacy Society and direct part of her estate to support SUNY Oswego.
“For the students, I hope the scholarship helps them find a very successful career,” Linda said. “I hope they’ll remember that they were helped along the way by somebody who cared enough to give them the opportunity to get their education. I want to have that continue as my legacy at Oswego—to help students succeed.”
You, too, can create a legacy at SUNY Oswego. Learn how by contacting a member of our Philanthropic Engagement team at develop@oswego.edu or 315-312-3003, or visit alumni.oswego.edu/plannedgiving.
