Horseracing fans around the globe watched as 3-year-old Always Dreaming outpaced the field and won the 2017 Kentucky Derby in Louisville on May 6. Cheering trackside was Tom Bellhouse ’86, chief operating officer of West Point Thoroughbreds of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., one of the owners of the history-making horse.
Now, the Oswego Alumni Association is offering you a chance to be trackside to cheer on the horses! Join Oswego alumni and friends for a day at the races Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Saratoga Race Track in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., but guests are welcome to stay throughout the entire race schedule.
Bellhouse will be there from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. to answer questions about horse racing, Saratoga and West Point Thoroughbreds and maybe even to offer some tips on placing a bet.
“We organized this event last year for the first time, and our alumni had so much fun that we decided to do it again this year,” said Laura Pavlus Kelly ’09, director of alumni and parents relations. “And who knows, maybe our alumni will get lucky and win big!”
The event includes all-day trackside access in the air-conditioned pavilion located along the rail so you can get up close to the majestic race horses. You can feast throughout the event on a robust buffet that includes a carving station, pasta station, a variety of hot entrees, assorted salads and a dessert bar.
Your ticket also includes access to a cash bar and betting windows available only to trackside guests.
The OAA is offering reduced-priced tickets of $110 for alumni and guests who register by July 14, and Graduates Of the Last Decade can purchase tickets for $100. Register now!
After July 14, tickets cost $120 for alumni and guests and $110 for GOLD alumni. Regular-priced tickets are $125.
