Resolution in Recognition of SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley and Mr. Michael J. Stanley
WHEREAS, the mission of the Oswego Alumni Association is to inform and interest a diverse constituency in the life of the university to create a partnership that encourages involvement, enhances loyalty and serves the current and future needs of SUNY Oswego and our alumni; and
WHEREAS, President Deborah F. Stanley created the position of vice president for development and alumni engagement and established a professional division within the college to specifically meet the needs of our alumni community and philanthropic efforts; and
WHEREAS, President Stanley has dedicated resources to develop and sustain programs and communications to keep Oswego’s 90,000 alumni connected to their alma mater; and
WHEREAS, President Stanley understands the importance of alumni and the value they bring to a college and has invested in initiatives such as the Alumni Sharing Knowledge guaranteed mentor program, Upskilling in a Digital World, the Alumni-In-Residence program and most recently the Imagine 2021 program to connect students with alumni expertise; and
WHEREAS, President Stanley has enhanced the image and academic reputation of the college during her remarkable tenure, thereby making an Oswego college degree more valuable; and
WHEREAS, President Stanley has built bridges to alumni leaders through her regular updates and conversations during Oswego Alumni Association Board of Directors meetings and gatherings; and
WHEREAS, President Stanley and her husband, Mr. Michael J. Stanley, have met with Oswego alumni across the country at formal and informal events to provide college updates, learn about the alumni experience and establish two-way communication; and
WHEREAS, President Stanley and Mr. Stanley have attended nearly every college Reunion Weekend, oftentimes embracing that year’s theme by wearing coordinating attire or accessories to the Friday night “Come As You Were Barbecue” at Fallbrook; and
WHEREAS, President Stanley and Mr. Stanley regularly opened up their home at Shady Shore to host a range of alumni events, including the annual 50th Anniversary Class Remembrance Ceremony during Reunion Weekend; and
WHEREAS, President Stanley and Mr. Stanley have established a warm and welcoming culture for all members of the SUNY Oswego family, and have made our alma mater a place we are proud to be part of;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Oswego Alumni Association hereby names Deborah F. Stanley and Michael J. Stanley honorary alumni of the State University of New York College at Oswego and invests them with the rights and privileges pertaining thereunto.
