Harriet Metz Armbruster ’42 of Tavernier, Fla., died Dec. 19, 2016. She was also a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., and was a teacher for many years. Harriet was survived by her husband of 72 years, Edward Armbruster ’47, who died on July 7, 2017. She is survived by three children, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Norma Schafer Nash ’43 of Canton, N.Y., died Jan. 17, 2020. She began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Wellsville, then taught sixth grade in the Canton Central School District until her retirement. Norma is survived by two children, four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Norma Sutherland Church ’45 of Oswego died March 29, 2020. She taught in Lyons, N.Y., prior to her marriage. She continued to substitute teach in the Oswego City School District form 1952 until 1964. In 1972, she organized the Oswego Hospital’s Home Aide Service and managed it until her retirement in 1986. Norma is survived by four children, including David ’79, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Emmanuel Paul ’45 of East Hartford, Conn., died March 19, 2020. She earned a master’s degree from Hartford College and Boston College and taught in East Hartford for her entire 37-year teaching career. She is survived by her daughter, Linda.
Phyllis O’Brien Baker Rech ’45 of Granby, Conn., died March 26, 2020. She taught in Camden, N.Y., and in St. Louis County, Mo., before raising her family. She is survived by her companion, William Hart, four children, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Edward Armbruster ’47 of Tavernier, Fla., died July 12, 2107. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He taught industrial arts in the Lindenhurst and Farmingdale School districts for 35 years. Ed was predeceased by his wife, Harriet Metz Armbruster ’42, on Dec. 19, 2016. He is survived by three children, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
William E. Gallik ’47 of Hamilton, N.Y., died June 23, 2020. William served as a captain in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed in Chichi Jima. After earning a master’s in industrial education, he taught for three years at Hamilton Central School and then became a senior design engineer for 30 years until he retired in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Betty Gallik ’45, two daughters, a son, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Barbara Schilling ’47 of Oswego died April 20, 2020. She taught in Rochester, N.Y.; California and Binghamton, N.Y., and she retired from the Oswego City School District. She is survived by her extended family.
Margery Steiger Anderson ’48 of Herkimer, N.Y., died April 11, 2020. She taught in the Ilion Central School District for 35 years, retiring in 1983. Marge was predeceased by her husband, George Anderson ’47, on July 27, 2008. She is survived by her sons, Peter and Christopher, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou Davey Hill ’48 of Fulton, N.Y., died Feb. 15, 2020. She taught in the North Syracuse School District for 35 years before retiring. She is survived by her son, Rockland, four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Ruth Sonnichsen Binaco ’50 of Fair Haven, N.J., died April 24, 2018. She taught for many years in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and several districts in New Jersey. Ruth is survived by three sons and two grandsons.
William Schlageter ’50 of Greece, N.Y., died Sept. 7, 2019. Bill taught industrial arts in the Rochester area for 36 years. He is survived by his wife, Jean, three sons, six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Betty Hutchings Steglich ’50 of Boise, Idaho, died Aug. 5, 2017. Betty taught in New Mexico and Idaho, retiring in 1990. She is survived by four children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Gordon Stuart ’50 of Tarrytown, N.Y., died May 2, 2018. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and taught industrial arts in Mamaroneck High School for many years. Gordon is survived by three daughters, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Louis Gimelli ’51 of Woodstock, Md., died July 2, 2018. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Louis earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from New York University. He taught for many years at New Rochelle (N.Y.) High School. Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Thomas Gimelli ’50; two daughters, Lisa and Lauren; and five grandchildren.
Lila Richter Haut ’51 of Richmond, Va., died April 27, 2020. Lila worked as a teacher at the Richmond Hebrew Academy and Richmond Day School, KBI. Lila also created the Afternoon Enrichment Program at the local Jewish Community Center and later retired from Beth Shalom Woods. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, nephews and extended family.
Walter Kluge ’51 of Brevard, N.C., died Nov. 14, 2019. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a teacher in Southampton, N.Y., for 28 years. Walter is survived by four children, three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Nancy Wilson McDaniel ’51 of Bradenton, Fla., died April 5, 2020. She taught kindergarten in the Chenango Valley (N.Y.) Central School District for many years. Nancy is survived by her husband, Robert McDaniel ’51, three children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Herbert Parmet ’51 of Newton, Mass., died Jan. 25, 2017. He served with the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and earned a master’s degree from Queens College in 1957. Herb taught at Mineola High School in garden City Park, N.Y., before being appointed as an assistant professor at Queensborough Community College in Bayside, Queens, N.Y. He retired as a Distinguished Professor of History in 1995. Herb is survived by his wife, Joan Kronish Parmet ’50, two children and two grandchildren.
Helen Morland Pease ’51 of New Hartford, N.Y., died Feb. 25, 2020. She was an elementary teacher in Marcellus and Whitesboro in New York. She is survived by two children and six grandchildren.
Joan Lasola Procopio ’51 of Syracuse, N.Y., died Feb. 24, 2020. She earned a master’s degree from Syracuse University and taught in the Syracuse City School District for more than 35 years, retiring in 1991. Joan is survived by her children, Ann, Mark, Thomas M’01 and Michael; and her grandchildren.
Patricia Dight Rill ’51 of Baldwinsville, N.Y., died March 5, 2020. She taught in the Mexico (N.Y.) Central School District and in Dewitt, N.Y. Pat is survived by four children, two stepchildren, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mona Langbart Seidman ’51 of Hollywood, Fla., died Jan. 30, 2020. She taught in East Meadow, N.Y., for more than 30 years. Mona was predeceased by her husband, Howard Seidman ’50, and is survived by two children.
David Clancy ’52 of Oneida, N.Y., died Oct. 23, 2017. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. David retired in 1991 after 31 years as principal at the Seneca Street School in Oneida. He is survived by five children and 10 grandchildren.
William Devitt ’52 of Venice, Fla., died Jan. 5, 2020. He served for four years in the Canadian Merchant Marine before immigrating to Fulton, N.Y. Following graduation from SUNY Oswego, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. William earned a master’s degree from SUNY Buffalo and spent 35 years teaching high school science in Hamburg, N.Y. Surviving are his three children and four grandchildren.
Audrey Helen Ralph Nagel ’52 of Newton, N.J., died May 17, 2020. Audrey worked 23 years as a reading specialist for the Closter School system. After retiring from teaching, she owned her own business, working as an antique dealer while also flipping homes. Audrey is survived by her three children and her many grandchildren.
Nancy A. Feller Carr ’53 of Cary, N.C., died April 21, 2020. Nancy was the founder and owner of Kiddie Carr nursery school for 30 years.
Robert DiBello ’53 of Lakewood, N.J., died May 3, 2019. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a teacher in East Meadow, N.Y., until his retirement. Robert is survived by his wife, Estelle, and son, David.
Anne Macdonald Sherman ’53 of Liverpool, N.Y., died April 16, 2020. She taught for many years at the Craven Crawford Elementary School in Liverpool until her retirement in 1987. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Sherman ’54, and is survived by her extended family. Francis Grimes ’54 of Huntington, N.Y., died Feb. 6, 2019. He is survived by his daughter, Rosalind.
Mary Markovci House ’54 of Jordan, N.Y., died March 10, 2020. She taught at Mexico (N.Y.) Central School District and in California before moving to Jordan. She worked at General Electric, homeschooled Cato-Meridian students and was a bookkeeper for the assessor and the Town of Cato. Mary is survived by her husband, Louis House ’54; sons, Stefan and Brett; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Douglas Baker ’55 of Hollywood, Fla, died Nov. 11, 2019. He served in Army Intelligence for three years. He earned a Ph.D. in biology at New York University and taught biology at SUNY New Paltz for 42 years. Douglas is survived by his wife, Linda Delgado, three children, two stepchildren, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Helen Schuyler Coty ’55 of Wallingford, Conn., died May 14, 2019. She taught kindergarten in upstate New York before moving to Wallingford in 1962. Helen is survived by two children and two grandchildren.
Elise Aldridge Dargie ’55 of Rome, N.Y., died March 15, 2020. She taught in Rochester and Holland Patent Central Schools in New York. Surviving are a daughter and two granddaughters.
Gerald Fishman ’55 of Stamford, Conn., died June 4, 2020. Gerald served as a medic for the U.S. Army in Germany. He then taught at Harrison High School for 30 years. Gerald also worked as a high school tennis coach for 45 years, while serving many years as chairman for the NY State Boy’s Tennis association. He had a second career at George’s Clocks and Watches, where he was the sole proprietor. Gerald is survived by his wife, Judy, three children and seven grandchildren.
Robert (Bob) J. Garrand ’57 of Westwood, N.J., died May 4, 2020. Robert joined the Air Force during the Korean War and became a member of the Strategic Air Command. He taught at New Milford High School for 35 years. He then enjoyed 25 years of retirement. He is survived by a niece, four nephews and two beloved friends, Joe and Theresa Rodriguez.
George Hunt ’57 of South Wales, N.Y., died Jan. 15, 2020. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He taught industrial arts in the Holland (N.Y.) Central School District for many years. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, two children and two grandchildren.
Marlene Lawton McAndrew ’57 of Falmouth, Mass., died Oct. 1, 2018. She was an elementary teacher for many years. She is survived by four children and four grandchildren.
Charles Walsh ’57 of Minoa, N.Y., died Jan. 5, 2020. He was a teacher and guidance counselor for the Syracuse City School District for 38 years. He is survived by his wife, Eileen, three daughters, four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Karl Murphy ’58 of Chapel Hill, N.C., died Nov. 20, 2019. He earned a master’s degree from New York University. He taught industrial arts in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie in New York before becoming a partner in Sunny Ridge Farm Markets from 1967 to 1982. He later worked in the food industry for several distributors of fresh foods. Karl is survived by his wife, Elsa, a son, two grandchildren and his mother, Elaine.
Donna Galusha Allen ’59 of Fulton, N.Y., died April 12, 2020. She taught in the Fulton City School District and was a co-owner and operator of Koski Insurance agency until her retirement in 1997. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Allen ’57, four children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Thomas LaClair ’59 of LaFayette, N.Y., died April 18, 2020. He taught at Onondaga (N.Y.) Central Schools before joining Liverpool (N.Y.) Central School District, where he was director of technology education then a high school principal. He is survived by his wife, Esther Elsey LaClair ’59, three children and his grandchildren.
Robert Lang ’59 of Gloversville, N.Y., died April 9, 2020. Bob began his career at North Babylon High School as an industrial arts teacher, and retired as an assistant principal in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Diane, three children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Robert Moore ’59 of Bridgeport, N.Y., died Feb. 25, 2020. He was a teacher at Chittenango (N.Y.) High School until his retirement. Bob is survived by his wife, Susan Kahut Moore ’58; three daughters, Karen, Elizabeth and Amy Moore Diel ’91; son, Charles; and eight grandchildren.
Louise Illenberg Soper ’59 of Orono, Maine, died Dec. 26, 2019. She earned a master’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and was a reading specialist at Newcomb Central School, N.Y., and Pasco County Schools in Florida. Louise is survived by three children, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Robert Caswell ’60 of Baldwinsville, N.Y., died Jan. 26, 2020. He was a member of the National Guard. He was a teacher at Liverpool (N.Y.) High School for 32 years. Robert is survived by his wife, Nancy, five children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Earl “John” Ilnitzi ’60 of Syracuse, N.Y., died on July 2, 2018. He earned a master’s degree from Syracuse University. John taught in the Baldwinsville (N.Y.) School District for several years and later taught in many countries throughout the world. He is survived by his extended family.
Beverly Kirkpatrick ’60 of Williamson, N.Y., died Dec. 19, 2017. She was a kindergarten teacher at Sodus (N.Y.) Primary School for 33 years. Beverly is survived by three children, eight grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Robert Larsen ’60 of Whiteville, N.C., died Oct. 8, 2019. He served with the U.S. Marines. Bob is survived by his wife, Julia, four daughters and five grandchildren.
George Matott ’60 of Bryan, Texas, died April 24, 2020. He taught at Fitzhugh Park and the Campus School in Oswego. He later worked with Martin Marietta Electronics, Lockheed Aerospace, NASA, Collins Radio, Newport News Shipyard and Texas Instruments, and he retired from Texas A&M University. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, two sons, six grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and his siblings, including Edward Matott ’68.
Frank J. Schmitt ’60 of Troy, N.Y., died June 20, 2020. Frank served as an airman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He then earned two master’s degrees. He worked for IBM and later taught industrial arts at Shaker High School for 26 years. Frank is survived by a daughter, a granddaughter, two siblings, and nieces and nephews.
David Bundy ’61 of Adams, N.Y., died April 18, 2020. He served with the U.S. Air Force. David earned a master’s degree from Syracuse University. He began his teaching career in the Watertown (N.Y.) Central School District and later taught at Belleville Henderson (N.Y.) School District for 37 years, retiring in 1996. Surviving are two daughters, three grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Leslie Hastings ’61 of Three Mile Bay, N.Y., died April 7, 2018. He served with the U.S. Navy. Leslie was an industrial arts teacher in Binghamton and the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (N.Y.) Central School District. He was survived by his wife, Diane Hoffman Hastings ’63, who died on April 26, 2018. They are survived by their daughter, Elaina Hastings Taylor ’92.
Patricia White Walpole ’62 of Sherrill, N.Y., died Feb. 7, 2020. Before retiring, Pat was a reading teacher in the Stockridge Valley (N.Y.) Central School District. She is survived by two children and four grandchildren.
Robert Rossiter ’63 of Liverpool, N.Y., died March 20, 2020. He taught in the Central Square (N.Y.) Central School District for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Susanne, and a daughter, Christine.
Marilou Huberth Santoro ’63 of Myrtle Beach, S.C., died March 26, 2020. She was a reading teacher in West Irondequoit and Oswego, then taught in the Fulton City School District for 24 years. Marilou is survived by her husband, James Santoro ’64; sons, James and Jon; and four grandchildren.
Nancy Griffin Bryant ’64 of Elmira, N.Y., died March 22, 2020. She was a teacher in Elmira and Horseheads, then taught in the Elmira Heights Central School district for 26 years before retiring in 2005. Nancy is survived by her husband, Dale Bryant ’64, three children and eight grandchildren.
Carol A. Pezzulo Sgarlata ’64 of Oswego died June 1, 2020. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joseph Sgarlata ’64, and her two sons, David Sgarlata and Andrew Sgarlata.
Joanne Galuski Truman ’64 of Poland, N.Y., died March 15, 2020. She earned a master’s degree and certificate of advanced studies from SUNY Cortland. She was a reading specialist in Utica, Poland and West Canada Valley schools in New York. She was the K-12 principal for the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School District, then retired as principal at the Westmoreland Road Elementary School in Whitesboro, N.Y. She taught graduate courses in literacy and literacy education as an adjunct faculty member at SUNY Cortland. Surviving are her husband, Jeffrey, two children and four grandchildren.
Joseph Dempsey ’65 of Lindenhurst, N.Y., died Jan. 20, 2020. He taught in the Wyandanch Union Free School District in Babylon, N.Y., for 31 years. He is survived by his siblings and their families.
Constance Shannon Gilbert ’66 of Huntington, W.Va., formerly of Sun City Center, Fla., died Feb. 4, 2020. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of South Florida. Connie is survived by her former husband, Richard Gilbert; daughter, Sara; and five grandchildren.
Richard Kohler ’66 of Gainesville, Ga., died March 18, 2020. He taught in the Smithtown (N.Y.) Central School District for 30 years and owned his own pool repair business, Pool Pro, for 40 years. Rich is survived by his wife, Irene, two daughters and a granddaughter.
Karen Ann Wengert Boyea ’67 of Slingerlands, N.Y., died May 25, 2020. Karen worked as a mathematics teacher for 33 years at Voorheesville High School, where she also served as chair of the mathematics department for 20 years. Karen is survived by her sister, MaryLou Rondeau, two nephews, four great nieces and nephews, her godmother, cousins, and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lawrence Carpenter ’67 of Dryden, N.Y., died Feb. 28, 2020. He earned an associate’s degree from SUNY Morrisville in 1963. He taught in the Southern Cayuga (N.Y.) Central School District for several years before returning to work with his parents at Dryden Implement. He later worked for the Town of Dryden Highway Department for 20 years. Larry is survived by his wife, Linda, two sons, three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
John Hergenhan ’67 of Fairhaven, Mass., died Feb. 4, 2020. He was also a graduate of the New School for Social Research. He worked for the N.Y.S. Narcotic Commission and established the first drug treatment center in the New Bedford area in 1969. He retired from the U.S. Justice Department after many years of service. He is survived by his wife, Laura, three children and six grandchildren.
Gloria Thompsen Clausen ’69 of Mendham, N.J., died Jan. 20, 2020. She earned a master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Gloria was a special education teacher at the Mountain View (N.J.) Middle School from 1988 until her retirement in 2011. She is survived by her husband, William, three children and four grandchildren.
Dennis J. Fagan ’69 of Middle Island, N.Y. died June 18, 2020. Retired Major General Dennis Fagan served in the U.S. Army National Guard before working as a technology teacher for over 30 years. Post retirement, Dennis became a yearbook advisor and a student teaching supervisor at SUNY Oswego. He is survived by his wife, Jane Fagan, four children and their families; and three siblings.
Cheryl Marie Phillips ’69 of Prompton, Pa., died May 12, 2020. Cheryl worked as an English teacher, computer typesetter and then a sales assistant at a brokerage house. She is survived by her three children, two sisters and eight grandchildren.
Arthur C. Adkins ’70 of Fulton, N.Y., died June 8, 2020. Arthur was employed by Nestles Chocolate & Confection Company, where he served as a purchasing manager. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Muriel Adkins; their children, Christopher Adkins and Jeffrey Adkins; his sister, Margaret Laird; and his grandchildren.
Michelle Gifford Cook ’70 of Summerfield, Fla., died Jan. 27, 2020. Micki is survived by her husband, Wade, two children, two grandchildren and her mother, Mary Gifford.
Mary D’Inzillo ’70 of Yonkers, N.Y., died in December 2019.
David Fogarty ’70 of Baldwinsville, N.Y., died Feb. 5, 2020. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. David taught in the Syracuse (N.Y.) City School District for 30 years and retired from Grant Middle School. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Collingwood, four children and four grandchildren.
Betty Haas McMahon ’70 of Johns Island, S.C., died Jan. 7, 2020. She earned a master’s degree at Canisius College before joining the staff at St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in Buffalo, N.Y. She is survived by her husband, Daniel, two sons and two grandchildren.
Clarence Musket ’70 of Reading, Pa., died April 22, 2018. He graduated from the General Motors Institute in 1947. He began his career as an auto mechanic in Reading and finished his career as an educator, working for the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in Rochester, N.Y. Clarence is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Walter Zerrahn ’70 of Naples, N.Y., died Jan. 14, 2020. He served in the U.S. Navy in the mid-1960s. He spent his entire career in the Naples Central School District, first as a teacher, then as the assistant principal and principal. Walt was the district’s superintendent for 27 years. Walt is survived by his wife, Christine, and two daughters.
Nancy Turner Caldwell ’71 of Oswego died Dec. 7, 2018. Nancy taught at a school in Germany shortly after graduation. She was employed by the Elsfleth City School District and later retired to move back to the United States. Nancy is survived by her two sons, William and Charles ’00; a brother and two nieces.
Rosemary L. Andrews ’72 of Lakewood, N.Y., died May 16, 2020. Rosemary earned several degrees. She retired as principal of Chautauqua Lake Central School in 2011. She is survived by her husband, two children, two grandsons and her sister.
Ronald W. Czyzycki ’72 of Yorkville, N.Y., died May 2, 2020. Ronald worked as a program evaluation specialist at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center for over 20 years, and retired in 2005. Ronald was an avid golfer who won many local tournaments and was a member of a few local Gold Clubs. He is survived by his sisters, nephews, a niece, several great-nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Sharon M. Handlin ’72 of Liverpool, N.Y., died June 15, 2020. Sharon worked as an accountant with OCWA, and retired after 33 years of service. She is survived by her four sisters, and several nephews and nieces.
Elizabeth H. Procter ’72 of Pulaski, N.Y., died June 12, 2020. Elizabeth was employed by Charlie Brown Nursery School for 20 years, while also working as a kindergarten teacher at Pulaski Elementary School. Elizabeth is survived by two siblings, a niece and a nephew.
Lewis Williams ’72 of Canandaigua, N.Y., died Jan. 10, 2020. He was a teacher for a short time, then worked as a developmental aid at the New York State DDSO for 30 years. Lewis is survived by his brother, Tom, and his extended family.
Patricia Hoffman ’74 of New Hyde Park, N.Y., died June 6, 2020. Patricia was an after-school counselor at Camp Avenue School in North Merrick. She is survived by her husband, Gary Wozniak, two brothers, a sister, nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Peter Keegan ’74 of Burlington, Vt., died Feb. 1, 2020. He was employed by Freedom Nissan. Peter is survived by his sons, Benjamin, John, and Graham; four siblings and their families.
Theophilus Lewis ’74 MD of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Oct. 27, 2019. He was a graduate of the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and worked in the department of surgery at Kings County Hospital Center. Theo is survived by his children, Thea and Justin.
Gerald Primeau ’74 of Oswego, N.Y., died April 8, 2020. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked in purchasing as a buyer for the New York State Power Authority, retiring in 2000. Jerry also owned and operated a family business, J&S Promotions, retiring in 2009. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, two children and five grandchildren.
Mark J. Freinbert ’75 of White Marsh, N.Y., died April 26, 2020. Mark owned his own business, Mighty Distributing of Delaware Valley. He is survived by his wife, Christine Freinberg ’74, and his extended family members.
Mark Metcalfe ’76 of Mount Sidney, Va., died April 22, 2020. He began his teaching career in Loudoun County, Va., then spent the next 30 years teaching chemistry at Fort Defiance (Va.) High School. Mark is survived by his wife, Nancy, three sons and seven grandchildren.
Hillary Bilford ’78 of East Syracuse, N.Y., died Feb. 2, 2020. She earned a master’s degree in gerontology from the University of South Florida in 1982 and a master’s degree in social work from Syracuse University in 2006. Hillary was previously a social worker at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She is survived by her brother, Howard.
Gordon R. Groff ’78 of Durham, N.C., died April 1, 2020. Gordon taught at the Catholic Diocese of Albany. He later moved to Florida, where he worked as a 5th-grade teacher at Coconut Creek Elementary. Gordon is survived by his parents and his siblings’ families.
John Vincent Barraco ’79 of Santa Fe, N.M., died April 2, 2020. John worked many years as a teacher for Pablo Roybal Elementary School in Pojoaque Valley, N.M.
Miriam Abbas Engle ’79 of Troy, N.Y., died May 15, 2017. She was a Central Office Technician in Albany for 27 years. Miriam is survived by her daughter, Diana Brower, and her companion, Joseph Demars.
Robert Moore ’79 of Chicago, Ill., died Jan. 29, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, three children and his mother, Lillian Moore.
Albert L Roman Jr. ’79 of Verona, N.Y., died May 26, 2020. Prior to retirement, Albert was employed by Harden Furniture Company and was a life member of the Verona Fire Department. Albert is survived by one brother, Aldelbert L. Roman, and close friend, Penny Billings.
Jay Tilin ’79 of Valley Stream, N.Y., died Feb. 12, 2020. He had been the head of production at Goldcrest Post since 2017, and had been an editor, visual effects artist and executive for 40 years. Jay is survived by his wife, Betsy Curry Tilin ’79; his children, Kelsey and Sam; and his mother, Sonya Tilin.
Keith F. McDermott ’81 of Huntington, N.Y., died June 16, 2020. Keith led to a successful career at Price Waterhouse, JP Morgan and Credit Suisse. He served the financial industry as a CPA and worked as a chief financial officer at MUFJ Securities Americas Inc prior to passing. He is survived by his two children, Laura and Greg.
Mary “Beth” Sereno Schickling ’81 of Oswego died April 29, 2020. She taught first grade at Fitzhugh Park School in Oswego for 34 years. She was predeceased by her sister, Judy Sereno Zak ’79. Beth is survived by her husband, William ’81; son, Joseph ’15; daughter, Mariel; and her mother, Eleanor Sereno.
David Kuchinski ’82 of Owego, N.Y., died Jan. 3, 2020. He retired from Lockheed Martin. David is survived by two daughters, Amanda and Ashley, and seven grandchildren.
Kenneth Murray ’82 of Trumansburg, N.Y., died Feb. 29, 2020. He worked at Borg Warner Automotive for 32 years. Ken is survived by his wife, Laurie, four children and seven grandchildren.
Donald Friedel ’83 of McKinney, Texas, died Feb. 3, 2020. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Don worked as a software engineer for IBM, BMC, CA and Broadcom. Surviving are his wife, Johanna, two children and three grandchildren.
Michele Greenia ’83 of Baldwinsville, N.Y., died March 20, 2020. She earned a master’s degree from SUNY Cortland and was a high school science teacher. Michele is survived by her sisters, and nieces and nephews.
David “Scott” Bassinson ’84 of Delmar, N.Y., died April 4, 2020. He was a graduate of Albany Law School and was an attorney in both the public and private sectors. Scott is survived by his wife, Meg, and his son, Paul.
Troy Allen Martin ’84 of Oswego died July 16, 2020. Troy served as a city police officer for 20 years. After retiring from law enforcement, he sold used cars in the greater Syracuse area.
Christopher Nessel ’85 of Liverpool, N.Y., died March 3, 2020. He worked as a chemistry technician at the Nine Mile Point Unit 1 nuclear power plant, retiring after 28 years of service. Chris is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Catherine; his father, Albert; and his eight siblings.
Michael Reidlinger ’85 of Fleischmanns, N.Y., died May 7, 2019. He earned a master’s degree at SUNY Oneonta. Michael was a teacher at Roxbury (N.Y.) Central School. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Heermance Reidlinger ’81; son, Brendan; his mother, Patricia; and two siblings.
Sally Fry Cronk ’86 of Oswego died Feb. 15, 2020. After graduation from Oswego, she was a case worker with the Oswego County Department of Social Services then worked at Oswego Industries until she retired in 2002. Sally is survived by three daughters, five sons, 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Michael J. Miller ’89 of Syosset, NY passed June 19, 2020. Michael worked as the director of business planning for Charter Communications.
Marilyn H. MacMaster Austin M’91 of Syracuse, N.Y., died June 2, 2020. Marilyn was the co-owner of Women Works in the 1970s, and was also founding member of the Women’s Information Center. She also was executive director of Euclid Community Open House and worked as an energy auditor for Onondaga Cooperative Extension. She is survived by her grandchildren.
Jeanne McNamara Gensler M’92 of Clay, N.Y., died Jan. 8, 2020. She had been a teacher at Bishop Ludden High School in Syracuse, N.Y. Surviving are her husband, Robert; daughter, Bonnie; and two grandchildren.
Gerald T. Simmons MD ’93 of Oswego died June 28, 2020. Jerry was a member of the Carpenters Local 747 for 22 years, which he then left to become a physician. He proudly ran his own medical practice, Oswego Family Medicine, for 17 years. Gerald then went on to join the ConnextCare of Oswego. He is survived by his children, siblings, longtime companion, Julie Foster, grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Karin Gratzer Simmons M’94 of Lakeland, N.Y., died Feb. 18, 2020. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College. Karin taught at Bishop Ludden for more than 10 years and was a CPA for more than 30 years. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie, three children and three grandchildren.
Christine Zsemblye Anderson ’96 of North Syracuse, N.Y., died Jan. 18, 2020. She was a marketing associate at CNY Central TV. Surviving are her husband, Peter Anderson ’81, and her extended family.
Frances Marks ’96 of Horseheads, N.Y., died April 28, 2020. Fran worked 40 long years at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, where she spent most of her career in the NICU. Fran also was a mentor to nurses’ aides at BOCES, where she worked as a clinical teacher. Fran is survived by her husband of 46 years, Raymond Marks; daughter, Stephanie May; three siblings and her granddaughters.
Judy Barham Dougherty M’98 of Fulton, N.Y., died Jan. 16, 2020. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and earned a bachelor’s degree at East Tennessee State University. Judy was a teacher in the Fulton City School District. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, and her daughter, Erin.
David Brown M’99 of Watertown, N.Y., died Jan. 27, 2020. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Clarkson University. David was a counselor at the Women’s Center (now the Victims Assistance Center) and Family Counseling for 14 years before moving to a private practice. He is survived by three brothers.
Diana Schoff Pilatzke ’99 of Ava, N.Y., died March 25, 2020. She was employed in human resources at the Turning Stone Casino, MA Polce Consulting, and for the last 12 years, DeIorio’s Frozen Dough. She is survived by her husband, Matthew Pilatzke ’05; children, Danielle and Justin; her parents and her extended family.
Jonathan David Ulrich ’99 of Newfield, N.Y., died May 29, 2020. He earned a master’s in creative writing from Goddard University in Vermont, and then worked for Cornell Cooperative Extension. He worked 10 years as a family support coordinator and Opportunity Development Specialist at the Franziska Racker Center, and most recently, he worked at the ReUse Center in Ithaca, N.Y. He is survived by his wife, two sons, his parents, a brother, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Gabriel Accardi ’00 of Deerfield Beach, Fla., died Sept. 4, 2019. He served in the U.S. Navy following graduation from Oswego. Following his service with the Navy, he worked as a government contractor. Gabe is survived by his parents, Robert and Carolyn; brother, Peter Accardi ’99; and his daughter, Alyana.
Bernice Rosalyn Cassidy ’03 of Syracuse, N.Y., died March 27, 2018. Bernice worked as a teacher with Syracuse City Schools for 30 years before retiring. She is survived by her two, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Wanda Carrie Miller Jansen ’04 of Williamson, N.Y., died June 13, 2020. She worked for Williamson Central School for 30 years. Wanda is survived by her daughter, sister, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Jeffrey Miller Sr. ’09 of Syracuse, N.Y., died May 20, 2020. For nine years Jeffrey worked as a teacher for the Syracuse City School District before joining Syracuse EOC, where he founded the “Man Up Program” and worked as an adjunct instructor. He was active at his local church. Jeffrey is survived by his wife, three children, four siblings, four grandchildren, more than 40 foster children and his extended family.
Harley Redlin ’15 of Albany, N.Y., died Feb. 11, 2020. He worked as an accountant. Surviving are his parents, Paul and Patricia, and brother, Levi.
David Kelsey, Emeritus Associate Professor of Technology, died Jan. 5, 2020. He joined the Oswego faculty in September of 1975 and retired in December 1999. David is survived by his wife, Kathy, his children and his grandchildren.
Rosalind Kimmich, Associate Librarian Emeritus, died Dec. 20, 2019. She earned degrees at Syracuse University and Rutgers University. Rosalind began her career at Oswego as the librarian at the Campus School in 1967. After the Campus School closed, she became the associate librarian at Penfield Library until her retirement in 1987. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
John O’Dwyer, Professor Emeritus of Physics, died March 10, 2020. He earned his degrees at Sydney University and at the University of Liverpool. His first position was in Australia at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization. He joined the Oswego faculty in September 1970 as chair of the physics department and retired in January of 1993. He is survived by five children, 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Ronald Scrudato, former director of SUNY Oswego’s Environmental Research Center, died Feb. 20, 2020. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Clemson University, a master’s degree at Tulane University and a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Ron joined the Oswego faculty in 1977. During his 26 years at Oswego, Ron was also the assistant vice president for academic affairs, assistant provost for research, and the director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. He is survived by his children, Sheila and Kurt, and his grandchildren.
